Nitobond EP is based on solvent-free epoxy resins containing pigments and fine fillers. It is supplied as a two-component material in pre-weighed quantities ready for on-site mixing and use. The base component is white and the hardener component is green, providing visual evidence that adequate mixing has been achieved.

Uses

For bonding fresh wet cementitious materials to existing cementitious surfaces. For use on horizontal surfaces or on vertical surfaces where mortar or concrete can be supported by formwork. The long open life makes it suitable for use with formwork or where additional steel reinforcement has to be fitted. The product is ideal for roads, bridges, pavements, loading bays and factories, and for bonded or granolithic floor toppings. Nitobond EP is equally suited to internal and external applications.

Nitobond EP may also be used as part of a repair system where a substrate/repair barrier is required or where the substrate is likely to remain permanently damp or wet.

Bonding Agent for Plaster and Glazing Tiles

DESCRIPTION

HACK AID PLAST is a unique single packpolymeric solution that strengthens the bondbetween plaster and new and old concretegreatly.

USES1. Bond between concrete and plaster2. Bond between concrete and ceramic/glaze tile

ADVANTAGES

1. HACK AID PLAST holds the concrete tightly due to interaction polymerisation.2. As the concrete cures, the bond strengthalso increases.3. Non-ionic, no possibility of attack on concrete by chlorides, alkalis, sulphates, etc.4. It does not have any corroding or deteriorating effect on the reinforcementsteel.5. The bond between steel and concrete is also preserved by HACK AID PLAST. .6. Laboratory tests reveal that the force required to pull out HACK AID PLASTaided plaster is twice the force required to detach ordinary plaster. (Hack-Aid-Plast not used)7. In general, in many repair cases gunniting does not last due to inadequate bond. This may be easily remedied by HACK AID PLAST. Use ofHACK AID PLAST as a bonding layer before gunniting reduces the rebound loss.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE1. Clean the surface with water jetthoroughly to remove dirt, loose, particlesetc.,2. Moisten the surface with water.3. On the entire clean moist surface, applya coat of HACK AID PLAST by spray.4. When surface becomes tacky, apply achat / dash-coat of cement mortar, say in10 minutes.5. Tacky period may vary depending onexternal atmospheric conditions,saturation degree of substrate etc.Check and ensure that the surface istacky prior to application.6. Plaster the surface or place the concretein the usual manner after setting of thechat/ dash coat.

Nitobond AR Std. is a modified        acrylic emulsion specially designed for use as a bonding aid and gauging liquid for cementitious systems. It is resistant to hydrolysis and can, therefore, be used for external applications.

Nitobond AR is the recommended primer for the Fosroc cementitious repair system.

Uses:

Recommended primer for Fosroc cementitious repair system. For improving and bonding floor toppings, renders, and mortars; repair of worn, damaged or spalled concrete; polymer modified floor screeds.

Specification clauses:
As a bonding agent
The bonding agent shall be Nitobond AR an acrylic based emulsified solution containing a minimum of 43% solids and compatible with cementitious materials. The bonding agent shall provide adequate bond strength when directly applied on concrete and also mixed with neat cement.

As a mortar modifier
The mortar modifier shall be Nitobond AR, an acrylic emulsified cement modifier which provides good bond with concrete/masonry and improves the flexural strength, tensile strength properties of the mortar when added in the specified quantities. It shall be compatible with all common hydraulic cement.

Application instructions
Surface Preparation
The object of the surface preparation is to achieve a clean sound surface with a good mechanical key. All substrates should be cleaned and free of dust, plaster, oil, paint, grease, corrosion deposits, and any other deleterious substances. Latency should be removed by mechanical means. Oil or greasy deposits should be removed by suitable means. All surfaces so treated should be thoroughly washed with clean water. Smooth substrates must be mechanically roughened e.g. by scabbling, needle gun or grit/ sandblasting to provide a mechanical key.

Concrete repairs: Any reinforcing steel in the repair area should be exposed around its full circumference and cleaned to remove all loose scale and corrosion deposits and then primed with Nitozinc Primer. Remove all surface dust and debris.

Priming
Immediately before priming, the concrete substrate should be thoroughly dampened with water and any excess being brushed off. Scrub Nitobond AR into the substrate. Avoid pudding of the emulsion. The repair mortar/topping should be applied whilst the primer is still tacky. However, a satisfactory bond can be achieved up to 15 mins. after application at 30

Limitations
As a bonding agent
Nitobond AR may exhibit less overlay time at higher temperature. In such cases as overlay mortar shall not be applied when Nitobond AR is totally dry.
Nitobond AR, when used as the bonding agent, cannot act as a barrier coat against ingress of chloride ions from the substrate.

Equipment cleaning
Immediately after use, wash all tools with clean water.

Nitobond SBR is a modified styrene butadiene rubber emulsion which is      supplied as a ready to use white liquid. It is designed to improve the qualities of site-batched cementitious mortars and slurries. Being resistant to hydrolysis, it is ideal for internal and external applications in conjunction with cement.

Uses:
  • For improving and bonding concrete repair mortars, cementitious floor toppings and screeds, waterproof renders and cementitious slurries. Cementitious mortars are alkaline in nature and will protect embedded steel reinforcement. Mortars produced with Nitobond SBR may be used for horizontal, vertical and overhead repair work.

Design Criteria:
  • The application parameters for mortars modified by the use of Nitobond SBR will differ depending on the actual mix design used. Generally, however, Nitobond SBR mortars can be applied in sections up to 40 mm thickness
  • in horizontal locations and up to 15 mm in vertical locations. The thickness achievable in overhead locations without the use of formwork is largely dependent on the profile of the substrate. Vertical and overhead sections greater than those stated above may be built up in layers but may sometimes be possible in a single application dependent on the actual size and configuration of the repair area, and the volume of any exposed reinforcing steel. Nitobond SBR mortars should not be applied at less than 6 mm thickness. Thicknesses up to 40 mm in a single application can be achieved by the use of formwork. Consult your local Parchem office for further information.

Application Instructions
Preparation:
  • Saw cut or cut back the extremities of the repair locations to a depth of at least 10 mm to avoid feather-edging and to provide a square edge. Break out the complete repair area to a minimum depth of 6 mm up to the sawn edge.
  • Clean the surface and remove any dust, unsound or contaminated material, plaster, oil, paint, grease, corrosion deposits or algae. Where breaking out is not required, roughen the surface and remove any laitance by light scabbling or grit-blasting.
  • Oil and grease deposits should be removed by steam cleaning, detergent scrubbing or the use of a proprietary degreaser. The effectiveness of decontamination should then be assessed by a pull-off test.
  • Expose fully any corroded steel in the repair area and remove all loose scale and corrosion deposits. Steel should be cleaned to a bright condition paying particular attention to the back of exposed steel bars. Grit-blasting is ecommended for this process.
  • Where corrosion has occurred due to the presence of chlorides, the steel should be high-pressure washed with clean water immediately after grit-blasting to remove corrosion products from pits and imperfections within its surface.

Cold Bond is an acrylic based high performance bonding agent that is reactive and flexible for use in concrete/concrete and concrete/plaster joints. It exhibits a pull off adhesion strength 2 equal to 34 kN/cm and is highly water resistant ensuring a permanent joint between structures.

THE CHALLENGES

Joint between the old & newly cast part becomes a weak link due to migration of water from newly cast concrete to cured side. PCC / RCC are cast in parts, leading to joints which develop cracks due to thermal cycling and shrinkage stresses. The junction of PCC or RCC structures with bricks walls also has joints which develop cracks. This leads to seepage / leakage.
